Dentistry and Your Health
Dental hygiene is an essential part of good health. At Dental School we are taught that 'the mouth is a window to the body' and that there are links between inflammation in the mouth and a number of diseases such as heart disease, lung disease and some cancers.
For diabetics, problems with the teeth and gums can be more common and more serious than for the average person, so being aware of how best to look after your teeth is an essential part of learning to live with both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
